The Wellington County Museum and Archives. The Archival Collection consists of rare historical records which document the history of Wellington County from its first settlement. The Museum has twelve galleries of exhibits reflecting the life stories of Wellington County people over the past centuries.
The Tweedsmuirs of Wellington County. The Wellington County Tweedsmuir history books are an informative resource for local history that has in the past been overlooked by researchers, historians and genealogists. The Wellington County Virtual History Book Project is one of many projects undertaken to celebrate the County of Wellington’s 150th Anniversary in 2004. The virtual history book is the digitization of the Tweedsmuir History collection compiled by the County’s Women’s Institutes.
1881 Census of Canada. The 1881 Census offers a rich source of information about Canada and Canadians. Through this research tool, you can access digitized images of original census returns which list the name, age, country or province of birth, nationality, religion, and occupation of Canada’s residents at the time of the 1881 Census.
1901 Census of Canada. This is an index to every name enumerated in the 1901 Census of Canada with the personal data transcribed, links to images of the original census pages, and links to other records for individuals including census records from other years, birth, marriage, death, and other records.
1911 Canadian Census. This database of 1911 census data allows researchers to search by geographic location only. As this is not a nominally indexed database, it is not searchable by family name. The information on these images can be used to prepare family or town/village histories, research immigration trends and a great deal more.
